So, I’m getting around to making my bedroom look a little more presentable. I still have some things to do (like add throw pillows, get some art, and small details)  but I’ll worry about that later. For now, you can kinda get the idea I’m going for. Green, white, leaves, pretty!
I did make a big whoopsie… I bought a dresser without considering the width of the drawers vs. closet doors, so I ended up having to take them off. I don’t regret it for a second! I love my curtains! I’m on a serious budget, so I used a lot of things I already had. For example, I had fabric left over from the background of my portfolio review display from graduating (last year!) and reused them as backgrounds on select cork boards, and also as tie backs for my closet curtains. The color scheme just came from odds and ends I already had: green lamp, gold piggy bank (I’d LOVE to paint my bed frame gold at some point!) white end tables. I ended up buying a duvet cover from IKEA, closet curtains, and a dresser. It’s starting to come together quite nicely!

Apartment Therapy was quick to post the pantone palette prediction from the Pantone Color Watch exhibit at the Home & Housewares show. Basically, color experts predict what colors are going to trend in the next year. In this case? Home goods. For more pictures and color swatches, check out the post at Apartment Therapy. Tired of paying extra for baggage fees when you travel? Solve the problem and transform your luggage into something else! Okay, maybe that’s not the most realistic thing to do because luggage can get expensive… but I’m a sucker for anything that’s transformed to have more than one use. In this case specifically? Suitcases. Many times you can get these used, vintage suitcases at thrift stores and yard sales for VERY cheap! Not only can they be affordable, but they are great in design if you like the vintage look. If you read on, you’ll see exactly what I mean… ——-> www.nicolehuckabee.com

Merry Christmas! I’m still looking for designers that wouldn’t mind being featured in my interior design blog. I get a lot of inspiration from other designers, and that’s what you are. I started a thread called “Featured Fridays” which showcases a designer every week. I post it on a lot of different sites, so it can’t hurt to get your name out there! You can be a student, in the business, an expert, an event planner, or have years of experience under your belt. E-mail a short biography with something you like/love/need/want/are inspired by/have to have and a picture of you if you’re interested. Are you?
