So, I’m getting around to making my bedroom look a little more presentable. I still have some things to do (like add throw pillows, get some art, and small details)  but I’ll worry about that later. For now, you can kinda get the idea I’m going for. Green, white, leaves, pretty!
I did make a big whoopsie… I bought a dresser without considering the width of the drawers vs. closet doors, so I ended up having to take them off. I don’t regret it for a second! I love my curtains! I’m on a serious budget, so I used a lot of things I already had. For example, I had fabric left over from the background of my portfolio review display from graduating (last year!) and reused them as backgrounds on select cork boards, and also as tie backs for my closet curtains. The color scheme just came from odds and ends I already had: green lamp, gold piggy bank (I’d LOVE to paint my bed frame gold at some point!) white end tables. I ended up buying a duvet cover from IKEA, closet curtains, and a dresser. It’s starting to come together quite nicely!

I came across these gloves this morning on Perpetual Kid. I love them! “We know some brothers who could’ve used these Pixel Oven Mitts when swinging mallets, jumping over barrels, and saving princesses!  Our Pixel Oven Mitts can help you do almost anything, but they are intended to protect your hands while holding hot trays and plates at home.  Sure, if you could shoot fireballs, at let’s say… turtles, they could help with that too! ” They’re only $16.99. I don’t know about any of you, but music has a huge influence on my life. One of my previous roommates, Nettie, used to get frustrated with me when I could respond to anything she asked me with lyrics from a song. I think Hans Christian Andersen was right when he said “Where words fail, music speaks.” These are some of the pieces or furniture and accessories that spoke to me.

Turntable Clock   This is a handmade recycled turntable clock! It’s customizable to the record that you’d like. It was sold on Etsy, but unfortunately it’s not available anymore and the link I had to it doesn’t reveal who the creative shop owner was. For shame!
Cassette’s Not Dead Floor Lamp by ooomydesign  The  ”Cassette’s Not Dead Floor Lamp” (shown above) by ooomydesign is what they call “a tribute to the cassette tape.” Held together by only string, it’s constructed in a way that makes it able to take out and replace different tapes, just in case you want to listen to one of them (if you even have something that you can play them on anymore.) Click here to purchase or to see more images.
 Cassette Chair
The “Nostalgia Chair” is also a design my ooomydesign. It has a walkman attached to its side! See above link for more information.Piano Table    Here is the Piano Table. Unfortunately, the original link to the website isn’t working, but I found another blog with plenty of pictures on it (thanks, Google!) Bahraini Diva’s blog has plenty of pictures of the piano table, more that do it justice. Click here to check out her blog.

iTable by Mirko Ginepro
This iTable by Mirko Ginepro is made of Corian. It was made for Milan’s Design Week, and is now residing in a hotel and another in an art gallery. Ginepro said toCult of Mac “The idea was to take an object that didn’t start out as furniture and turn it in into something useful.” Well done!
Panda Chair by Belen Hermosa Not using those blank CD’s anymore since you have your flash drive? Take after Belen Hermosa and turn them into a chair. The Panda Chair is made of hundreds of CD’s lined in rows. (Gizmodo)

Piano Table by Georg Bohle
The “Piano Table” by Georg Bohle is a table that comes with a ready to use piano inside of it. I don’t know about you, but I’d be afraid to set my glass of red wine down on this table. Wonderful, nonetheless! (Behance)

These are a fun idea for a…man cave?  ”Each Palette Coaster is 1/10 the size of a standard palette and looks identical to a normal wooden load-bearer right down to the stamps.  Each order comes with a set of 5 and thanks to all our drinking buddies, we may just have a reason to order a palette full. $21.”
By the way, Cool Material is a website (supposedly just for men, but I apparently get a kick out of it!) that shows the latest trends in style, home furnishings, media, technology, rides, gadgets and more. So guys, go check it out! (Cool Material)

Yum! For all of the maple syrup lovers out there (and those of you who think this is as cool as I do) this is the perfect waffle iron! All of those pockets will surely catch a ton of maple syrup. An old typewriter makes the transformation to a waffle iron. Delicious! (notcot)

UK architects Chris Lee and Kapil Gupta of Serie Architects have designed “The Tote” which is a banquet hall, restaurant, bar, and beautiful. The goal was to bring together a series of disused buildings from the cities past and convert them into a series of new spaces.

“The structural system adopted is that of a tree-branch. The propagation of the branching system along the longitudinal section of the conserved building is differentiated in its growth along the transverse section.”

Duuun dun duuun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun… Sharky Tea Infuser! This is a perfect thing to be blogging about when I’m sick (with a cold and) of tea. Pablo Matteodo, an artist from Argentina, designed this clever tea infuser. Here’s what he had to say about it in his own words.
“INFUSION means to extract certain properties from an soluble ingredient such as tea leaves , herbs or fruit by soaking in liquid (water) until it gets saturated. So we can say that a infuser is the in charged of make this happen. This is a ludic point of view about the color given off from the phenomenon, wich makes more interesting the waiting of the whole process.”  Interesting indeed! (theconsumerist, burstoid)

I have a little crush on these powder coated iron chairs designed by Gaurav Nanda. They’re available at Bend Seating at the price of $425 each.
“Our wire chairs are made up of intricate arrangements of wires or lines through a hand crafted method of shaping and spot welding, a process we like to call ‘bending.’ Each bend is carefully arranged to ensure structural strength, while the angles of the back, the curves of the seat, and the closeness of the wires are designed to encourage relaxation and utility.” For more pictures, view the following links. I love this idea. I’ve owned plenty of places that get chipped some way or another, and this is a really cute way to still have use of them. “There are bowls that cannot be used because of small defects. And there are people around us that need these bowls. Bring Luck was made to make these bowls usable for people who need them, with a little birdie. By sticking the product onto the cracked areas, the bowls can be used even more usefully than new ones.” Beautiful. (Yankodesign)

(theconsumeristburstoid)
